The County of Carleton Law Association and Great Canadian Theatre Company are proud to present the 20th Annual Lawyer Play.
This year’s show is being developed especially for the CCLA/GCTC Lawyer Play. It is a play-within-a-play format, focusing on an old-timey radio station, its crew, and the radio plays they are performing. It will feature a cast of more than 20 local lawyers, judges and community leaders who will display their creative side as they act, sing, dance, play instruments, and more.
The 20th Annual Lawyer Play will once again take stage at GCTC to raise funds for the theatre and a local Charity Partner, to be announced in early 2019.
Anyone in the legal profession, including articling students, paralegals, and judges are eligible to audition for the Lawyer Play. No acting experience required, just an open mind and a passion for theatre.
We are also looking for people who are interested in singing, playing an instrument, tap dancing or operating foley sound onstage.
Rehearsals begin in the spring and will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Actors must be available when called throughout the rehearsal period.
You must be available for ALL nights of the play and a very busy rehearsal period, including most evenings during the two weeks leading up to the performances. You must be available for Tech Rehearsal the weekend before the performance dates.
ALL cast members are required to sell a minimum number of tickets (40) and seek sponsors for the Lawyer Play.

Please state in subject line “LP 2019 audition”
Actors will be asked to read from at least one set of sides from the script, so please be familiar with them. Please note that while you may be asked to read for a specific character, you may be considered for other characters. (There are 4 male roles and 4 female roles to choose from in the sides below.) For more information about the roles, see this list of characters.
For the second part of the audition, the actors will be split into smaller groups and will be tasked with inventing a brief radio commercial for a fictional product. Actors are asked to bring their sense of humour and creativity to this exercise, and are encouraged to showcase any additional talents in this part of the audition (singing or dancing abilities, sound effects, impressions, ability to play a musical instrument, etc.). Those interested in being considered for singing roles in The Pitch Pipes may elect to sing a few bars of a song for the Director at the end of the audition time should they wish.
Actors are asked to indicate if there is a specific character they wish to read for at the auditions.
