Haviah Mighty

Haviah Mighty, a young Black woman, stares into the camera while wearing metal jewelry across her face. There is a purple haze around her head.

To close out International Women’s Month, GCTC and Origin Arts present Haviah Mighty, streaming live from Ottawa on March 27 at 7:30pm.

Haviah won the Polaris Prize for her 2019 album 13th Floor, making her the first hip-hop artist and the first Black woman to do so. She is fresh off the release of her newest single, “Obeah” (below), and is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in Canadian music.

Joining Haviah will be visual art from Fatuma Kou, whose stimulating pieces will be available for purchase in the month following the concert, and guest culinary expert Habesha Restaurant, a beloved Ethiopian Eatery. 7 ticket holders will be drawn on the eve prior to the event and will receive a free meal delivered to the door in time for the concert!

This is the first of a series of Kitchen Concerts presented by GCTC and Origin Arts. Details of future streams will be announced soon.
