Play synopsis

Jasmine Chen recounts her quest to reconnect with her late grandmother. Using music, movement, and storytelling, Jasmine finds her place within the legacy of her family. She discovers lost stories of her grandmother's past through interviews with her mother. Throughout the play, Jasmine shares her discoveries and reclaims her mother tongue. The play is performed in a mix of Mandarin and English, with surtitles.

What is the world of the show? What is the vibe?

A soft welcome into a space to join Jasmine Chen on her discovery of her family’s past. The show includes captioning in English for when Jasmine speaks Mandarin. While minimal subtitles in Chinese will be available while performing in English, some understanding of English will enhance your experience. Each performance has a talkback conversation with the artist. Audiences are encouraged to share their responses and questions after each performance.
