Daisy and Unholy Posponed

We thank you for your patience and understanding in this challenging time as we work with you to ensure the health of our community. On behalf of all the artists, staff, and volunteers who contribute to GCTC, we send this message of goodwill and strength to our friends, patrons, donors, sponsors…to everyone.

On March 13, GCTC postponed production and, following all recommendations from Health Canada, Public Health Ontario, and Ottawa Public Health, closed our facility to public gatherings. At that time, we had announced our intent to re-open our production of Daisy by Sean Devine on April 7. However, in the interest of community health and safety, we have suspended all operations until further notice. It is clear that we need to wait until the risk of COVID-19 transmission has decreased significantly before we can offer any concrete announcement on re-opening Daisy or proceeding with other activities. The severity and speed of the current crisis has also forced us to postpone our announcement of our 2020/21 programming, originally scheduled for World Theatre Day, Friday March 27. We will provide updates on our season announcement as soon as we can do so with confidence that all components are in place.

Box office staff will work with patrons to re-book all tickets purchased for Daisy once we are confident that we can responsibly and safely revise our production schedule. For those subscribers and single ticket holders who are unable to attend during the revised schedule, we will offer a credit for up to 18 months for future GCTC season performances to be used by the patron or a guest of their choice.

For those patrons who were also looking forward to the final production of our subscription season, Unholy by Diane Flacks, we have canceled its appearance in our current year, but we aim to produce it in our upcoming 2020/21 season. This is subject to change, but we want to reassure you that it is still our goal to bring this extraordinary script to life at GCTC.

Sincerely,

Eric Coates and Hugh Neilson
