Meet The Staff - Alli Harris

Meet Alli Harris! Alli (she/her) has been a part of the GCTC team since 2018, where she started working in the bar. Her role has grown since then, evolving to Bar Manager and now as Public Spaces Coordinator!

Alli’s day-to-day working at GCTC varies. When a show is on there is a lot of bar prep; she focuses on ordering things for the bar, keeping it up to date, going through bar reports, consolidating the cash we make, etc. Not only that, but Alli works as Show Captain for certain shows and also works in the Box Office. She works hard to train bartenders and box office staff, and we are so lucky to have her!

Alli wanted to get involved with GCTC because she saw that the company was creating interesting contemporary theatre and wanted to be a part of it. Seeing many shows over the years, one that stands out to Alli is Kiinalik: These Sharp Tools, created by Evalyn Parry, Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory, Erin Brubacher, and Elysha Poirier with Cris Derksen. She says it was great to have Buddies in Bad Times Theatre come out and do the show with GCTC, and that it was unlike any other production seen on our stage.

What does Alli do outside of GCTC? “The cats would probably say it's them”, Alli says. (For the sake of the cats’ - Whoopie and Penny - egos, we’ll say they’re top of the list). However, Alli is also a theatre artist, with a show, Camp BFF4E, coming up at Ottawa Fringe’s undercurrents festival April 20-30, 2022. Alli also streams on Twitch. But again, the cats are #1 (photo below).

When asked what she loves about GCTC, Alli says: “I love the people, honestly. I love the people. I like where the company is headed. The GCTC is willing to learn and grow and I really like that. That’s something that you adopt when you start working here.”
