"They have invented a language of dance that I did not know existed until now."
Eric Coates, GCTC Artistic Director
DIRECTED AND CHOREOGRAPHED BY RENATA SOUTTER
June 23, 2017 - June 24, 2017
Celebrated integrated dance choreographer Renata Soutter’s latest integrated dance creation was built in collaboration with the inventive Propeller Company artists. Most of the Company dancers have worked together since its inception in 2007, and have developed great physical and emotional trust in each other. This brand new work puzzle pieces together our artful lived experiences of joy and oppression.
In a style that is all at once abstract, real and contemporary, Soutter and the Company have unearthed vignettes that stir a diverse mix of activism, love, and sparkly things into a simmering pot of delicious dance-theatre. Propeller’s unique ensemble of eight performers, each with individual style and ways of being in the world, take us through a raucous romp that reflects our overarching needs and wants for love, understanding… and good footwear! The refrain of desirable lives achieved through fight, flight and pride will have you laughing, crying and yelling out loud.
We are especially excited that this year's performance will offer new options to increase engagement and accessibility, including:
After the show raise a toast with us to 10 incredible years of triumph on Friday, June 23, or stay and enjoy a talk back about the show on Saturday, June 24.
