Lawyer Play 2011

The Crucible
May 11, 2011 - May 14, 2011
by Arthur Miller
Directed by Patrick Gauthier

As Arthur Miller himself wrote, The Crucible explores, “one of the strangest and most awful chapters in human history.” In a time when religion and law were still inextricably linked, church leaders were not always respected but were always obeyed. And their word was gospel, even to the ears of judges and governors. The Crucible tells the story of the Salem Witch trials, in which 19 people were sentenced to death based only on the suspicion of many and the dubious testimony of a few.

The stars of this year's production represent all walks of the legal profession in Ottawa, ranging from articling students all the way to Justices of the Supreme Court. They are: Stephen Acker, Justice Robert Beaudoin, Tara Berish, Dan Caron, Mitchell Charness, Carol Cochrane, Peter Doody, Siobhan Doody, Leanne Fioravanti, Ella Forbes-Chilibeck, Daniel Hohnstein, Julia  Kennedy, Steven Kennedy, Stephanie Lewis, Ted Mann, Justice Colin McKinnon, Natasha Morley, Sig Pantazis, Janice Payne, Rakhi Ruparelia, Jeremy Waiser.

The GCTC/CCLA Lawyer Play is an annual fundraising project that supports the operations of the Great Canadian Theatre Company. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit local charity Operation Come Home.
