Tempting Providence Captures Critics' Hearts and Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – November 24, 2009
 
The Great Canadian Theatre Company is proud to announce that the presentation of Tempting Providence by Robert Chafe earned the Capital Critics Circle award for Best Professional Production in the 2008/2009 season.
 
Tempting Providence, a Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador production, ran as part of GCTC’s “STAGES” season in January, 2009. Directed by Jillian Keiley, the play told the true story of Nurse Myra Bennett, who moved from her home in England to provide the only medical services along the 350 kilometres of Newfoundland’s rural northern coast in 1921.
 
GCTC Artistic Director, Lise Ann Johnson, accepted the award on behalf of the production, "Tempting Providence was much beloved by GCTC audiences.  We were very proud to have presented this beautiful production as part of our Stages Season."
