Lise Ann Johnson renews Artistic Director contract
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – NOVEMBER 30, 2009
The Board of Directors of the Great Canadian Theatre Company is pleased to announce that Lise Ann Johnson will be continuing as the Artistic Director for three more years. Johnson’s contract was recently renewed and will continue until June, 2013.
Peter Doody, the Chair of the GCTC Board, said, "We are delighted that Lise Ann will be staying with us and continuing her excellent work which has made GCTC a creative hub of this community. Lise Ann's leadership and programming excellence have allowed GCTC to continue its thirty-five year tradition of providing excellent professional Canadian theatre in Ottawa."
Johnson will be taking a partial sabbatical from August, 2010 until July, 2011 as she accompanies her husband and family to Oxford, England. GCTC will be hiring an Associate Artistic Director to take care of the daily duties of the Artistic Director; Johnson will continue to work alongside the Associate AD during the 2010/2011 season from a distance. She will program the plays for both the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons. The Associate AD will be announced in the Spring of 2010.
