Hannah Moscovitch nominated for Governor General's Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – October 15, 2009
 
The Great Canadian Theatre Company congratulates Hannah Moscovitch for earning a place in the list of finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Award (Drama).
 
Moscovitch received the nod for her play East of Berlin, which follows young Rudi as he tries to find out the truth about his father’s wartime past. The Governor General Literary Awards are chosen in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts and the Governor General of Canada. The awards are given to honour the finest in Canadian literature in the categories of: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, children’s literature (text and illustration) and translation.
 
Moscovitch is currently working with a team of six child and four adult actors, designers and director Janet Irwin to prepare her next play for the stage. After nearly 3 years of script development and workshopping, the world premiere of The Children’s Republic will open on November 5, after two preview performances on November 3 and 4, and runs until November 22.
