GREAT CANADIAN ARTIST SERIES
Rod Beattie is Walt in
The Wingfield Cycle
by Dan Needles
Directed by Douglas Beattie
Want to see what you've been missing? Experience the magic all over again? In 1984, a new Canadian icon burst onto the scene - Walt Wingfield, the Bay Street stockbroker who traded city life for a hundred-acre farm north of Toronto and his pinstriped suit for overalls and a barn coat. Now, to celebrate with GCTC, Rod Beattie returns to perform the entire cycle of five plays and the full cast of characters from mythical Persephone Township, from the original Letter from Wingfield Farm through Wingfield's Progress, Wingfield's Folly, Wingfield Unbound and the most recent of all, Wingfield On Ice. Come see the Wingfields you missed or experience all the stories from the very beginning!
Preview November 23, Opens November 24, closes December 12 (Tuesday to Friday at 8:00, Saturday at 4:00 and 8:30, Sunday at 2:00 pm)
SPECIAL NOTE: Choose your Wingfield play! When you book your Great Canadian Artist Series subscription, you get to choose which of the five plays in the cycle you wish to see! (And you'll be first in line for special discounts on any of the other four you wish to book!)
Ronnie Burkett's Theatre of Marionettes in
Provenance
by Ronnie Burkett
Been waiting for a new show from the creator of Awful Manors, Happy and Tinka's New Dress? Here it is - Ronnie Burkett and his theatre of marionettes arrive at GCTC on the international tour of his newest masterpiece. Provenance is the story of a painting, sold and stolen, displayed and desired over a century, now hidden in a Viennese bordello. With his famously witty, bawdy, provocative and touching puppetry, Ronnie Burkett plumbs the highs and lows of human experience in a piece that is by turns exotic, erotic, tender and wonderfully beautiful.
Preview January 11, Opens January 12, closes January 30 (Tuesday to Friday at 8:00, Saturday at 8:30, Sunday at 2:00 pm - no Saturday matinees)
SPECIAL NOTE: Only four (4) Preview/ Matinee performances mean only 880 seats available in the Great Canadian Artist Series Preview/ Matinee subscription: book early! Mr. Burkett advises us that Provenance is not suitable for those under 14 years of age.
