GCTC Presents Theatricks: A Night of Tasting, Bidding and Laughter

Ottawa, ON, May. 29, 2006 – Theatricks, Auction, Dinner and Show takes place on Thursday, June 8. Buffet and bidding begins at 5:30pm at St. Anthony’s Soccer Club followed by a performance of Life x 3 at the Great Canadian Theatre Company at 8:00 pm.

The Great Canadian Theatre Company presents an evening that will tickle your taste buds, slake your thirst for the thrill of bidding and feed your theatre bug all at the same time! Over a dozen restaurants from across Ottawa will be presenting a succulent feast while patrons bid on a host of prizes to be won in a silent auction. Prizes include get-away theatre weekends to the Stratford Theatre Festival and Toronto, cooking classes with Les Soupiers, a cornucopia of VIP passes to arts and entertainment events such as Westfest, set pieces of some of GCTC’s most loved past performances signed by the actors and a host of other exciting prizes.

Following dinner and bidding will be a performance of Yasmina Reza’s dramatic comedy Life x 3, a play about the hilarity of a dinnerless party from hell in the style of Groundhog Day or Sliding Doors. When guests arrive a day early, Henri and Sonia are left scrambling to offer them a dinner of Cheeziesand lady fingers. This comically spiraling evening gets even worse as marital spats erupt and competitive spirits are evoked in the finer points of parenting and bratty children who just won’t go to bed. Yasmina Reza delivers three variations on the same scene, making this a play with seemingly infinite variety and humor.

Funds raised by Theatricks will support GCTC’s Behind-the-Scenes Fund.  This fund will help GCTC purchase important equipment, tools, supplies, materials and such to help our designers, stage crew, and technicians create the magic of live theatre. “We are proud to support GCTC and understand that what takes place behind-the-scene helps to ensure high quality professional theatre…. because what you don’t see is what you get!” explains Christine Leadman, Executive Director of the Westboro Village BIA who are partners of Theatricks.

Tickets are $100.00 per person, $75.00 for GCTC Subscribers and $50 for Auction only.
