GCTC Board of Directors welcomes new members

The Board of Directors of the Great Canadian Theatre Company is pleased to welcome seven new members. The new members were elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting of the Corporation on December 7, 2009.
GCTC has a unique constitution which gives four seats on the Board of Directors to Working Members. The Working Members include any artist that has ever worked under contract at GCTC. The new representatives on the Working Members Committee are local set and costume designer, Brian Smith; and local actor and director, Todd Duckworth. Departing from the committee at the end of their terms with the gratitude of the Board for their years of service, are local actors, Kate Hurman and Sarah McVie.
Joining the Board of Directors from the Ottawa community are:
- Manny Agulnik, a commercial real estate professional who has also participated with the Search & Find Committee as well as the design committee for GCTC;
- Paul Gaffney, who brings over thirty-five years experience in broadcasting and communications and has participated on the City of Ottawa’s arts advisory committees and is the former Chair of the Ottawa Children’s Festival;
- Bruce Nicol, an executive with Tartan Homes, who is an artist in his own right with a Doctorate in music and has written and directed numerous works for the stage;
- Brian Toller, President and Owner of Tolcor Investments Ltd., a private investment firm, and currently sits on the Board of the Community Foundation of Ottawa as Chair of their Investment Committee; and
- Nhanci Wright, a consultant in fundraising, development and strategic communications and has served on the Board of Directors of Citizen Advocacy Ottawa and the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama.
GCTC Board Treasurer, Andrew Misener and Director, Janet Yale also renewed their terms for another two years.
