The Great Canadian Theatre Company is proud to have received sixteen Rideau Award nominations.
The nominations were announced at a reception on February 22. Nominations were received for all four of the eligible productions from 2009: The Drawer Boy, The Net, The Syringa Tree and The Children’s Republic.
GCTC was nominated for at least one production in nearly every category, including:
Outstanding Production: The Drawer Boy and The Syringa Tree
Outstanding Direction: Janet Irwin, The Children’s Republic; Lise Ann Johnson, The Syringa Tree; and Todd Duckworth, The Drawer Boy
Outstanding Performance – Female: Patricia Fagan, The Syringa Tree
Outstanding Performance – Male: David Fox, The Net; Paul Rainville; The Drawer Boy
Outstanding Lighting Design: Jock Munro, The Children’s Republic and The Syringa Tree; Martin Conboy, The Drawer Boy
Outstanding Set Design: Robin Fisher, The Drawer Boy and The Syringa Tree
Outstanding New Creation: The Children’s Republic
Outstanding Adaptation: The Net
Technical/Stage Management: Louisa Haché, The Children’s Republic
GCTC Artistic Associate, Patrick Gauthier also received a nomination for Emerging Artist as Director of the MiCasa Theatre production, Countries Shaped Like Stars.
