".All great leaders of men are, without exception, criminals. Even men who are only a little out of the ordinary must be criminals by their very nature. Otherwise, they never rise above the masses, and they can't stand being part of the masses." - Crime and Punishment
This award winning play, told as an intimate psychological and spiritual journey, reveals the potential for both ugliness and beauty within everyone. The story is largely set in the mind of the young and intelligent protagonist, Raskolnikov, where he relives and explores the thoughts, ideas, and feelings that drove him to his crime of murder; all the while Porfiry, a detective with impeccable intuition, and Sonia, a prostitute who still holds tightly onto her faith, urging him to confess his crime. In his search for redemption, and caught between his conscience and his arrogance, Raskolnikov must find the way out of his self-created prison and decide who he will become.
