Generous by Michael Healey runs until this coming Sunday, September 27 and there are very few tickets left. Each weeknight performance is booked nearly to capacity, so do not hesitate if you want to see this wonderful show.

We’re just a little over a week away from opening our brand new 2015-16 season with Generous. With opening a new season comes a lot of different things. One of the things you can always count on is a new list of multimedia resources that tie-in to the themes of the plays in the season. This list comes courtesy of the lovely people at the Ottawa Public Library.

For those interested in voting at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), please take note of the notice below:

 

Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC) is a not-for-profit company federally incorporated in 1975. Each year the corporation must hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to publicly report to its members on its operations and financial status, review the annual audited financial statements, appoint the auditor and elect board members.

Members of the corporation are subscribers and individuals from the community who have purchased a GCTC Membership*.

This year would be the 100th birthday of Arthur Miller (world renowned playwright best known for The Crucible and Death of a Salesman). I have to say, it was a daunting task to tackle one of the more obscure works from this intellectual giant, but nevertheless, one worth digging into and full of delightful treasures and challenging ideas. Contrary to what one might think, the appeal of this play was the “other business” rather than “the creation of the world” and all that goes with that.

A Company of Fools

Only a Fool would try to play Shakespeare on the streets, and 25 years ago a small group of emerging artists who did that very thing embraced the name as their warrior mark. Thus a Company of Fools was born. That we are still around 25 years later is a humbling mystery to me – after all, it’s not like the name is one that inspires respect or confidence!

Ottawa based Teen artists Maia Weintrager and Leah Cosman debuted their watercolour and ink drawings at the Fritzi, opening their exhibition, Of Reverie, just this pass week on June 4th. What an opening night, it was a huge success!
