Hello,
June is a busy time around GCTC. Our current and last show of the season, Circle Mirror Transformation, will be closing this weekend. I highly recommend it. It is laugh out loud funny; the characters are wonderful and the story will touch your heart. It doesn’t get better than that…

Four days and - yes - I’m counting - squeezing in the rehearsal time to an already full-up schedule.
Last night was very productive. After a really mercurial rehearsal day for a fall show with La Vieille 17 that left me an emotional puddle, I got down to it and played through the first part of the June 7 GCTC FunRaiser. It ran a tidy 55 minutes which pleased me to no end and I rewrote the opening sequence to tidy things up.

Well folks, the reviews are in and Circle Mirror Transformation is a bonafide hit! It started with the opening night reception. I was hanging out by the bar in Domicile Hall (our lower lobby) waiting for all the patrons to come out and I could hear the uproarious laughter coming from inside the theatre on the intercom. When the show was over and people started filing out, everyone had big smile on their face and chatter was abundant.

The play, the people and the party, it was an awesome night for all at the opening night of Circle Mirror Transformation last night.   With the set of Circle being a backdrop of a simple community centre it only seemed fitting to bring the theme into the lobbies.  Where would you eat if you were at a community centre?  Well at the snack bar of course!  Shirley’s Community Centre Snack Bar was fun, funny and yes  most certainly tacky!

It’s the opening night of our last show of the 11-12 season. We have had a great season – starting off with Amelia: The Girl Who Wants to Fly an intriguing story about Amelia Earhart. Then we produced the world premiere of Whispering Pines with a haunting story of espionage and secrets. Our holiday show was full of clowns as A Company of Fools presented A Midwinter’s Dream Tale. Everyone was thrilled to see Blood on the Moon by Pierre Brault.

I have never written a blog, so I don’t really know how to start one, but here goes.
I am currently working on Circle Mirror Transformation at the GCTC. We have our very first preview tonight and had our very first audience on Sunday for our invited dress. It’s been a long and exciting week of tech and final touches. Now we get to play with the audience, which, for me, is the best part.

This year GCTC introduced a new-ish flex pass to our subscription offerings. It used to be called the Edgepass previously, but we've since rebranded it Edge/35 for anyone 35 years of age or under. This pass gives the purchaser six flexible tickets that can be used in any combination.

Wanna see all six of our plays next season? Get this pass.

Wanna see 3 shows with your sweetheart? Get this pass.

Wanna bring a bunch of friends to go see one show? Get this pass.

So…the Lawyer Play has wrapped for another year and subscriptions are selling very, very well. It is now time to shift focus on to our next show, Circle Mirror Transformation; the sixth and final show in a strong 2011-2012 season.  The cast, crew, and staff of GCTC assembled Tuesday May 1st for the first script read.
