Interning at GCTC

A great doctor once exclaimed from the psychedelic pages of a picture book,

OH!

THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

You'll be on your way up!

You'll be seeing great sights!

You'll join the high fliers

who soar to high heights.

And sure enough, I ended up in just such a place. My public relations internship at GCTC began a fleeting week and a half ago. The transition between study and the work force had once loomed as a potentially jarring experience; instead it has proved to be satisfying, illuminating and, yes, fun.

Especially with Carmen Aguirre’s Blue Box  opening this Thursday. The energy of opening night doesn’t stop at the stage door here. Aguirre’s performance is deeply engaging; with dark humour, sincerity and a very powerful story.  Carmen’s memoir Something Fiece: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter engrossed Canadian’s en masse, winning the 2012 CBC Canada Reads competition.

Experience her powerful account of two seemingly different kinds of love on our Main Stage, Jan 15 – Feb 3.
