My first (and last) GCTC blog

Hey folks,
I’m Heather, and I’ve been GCTC’s intern for the past six weeks. I’m currently finishing up my second, and final year of the Journalism program at Algonquin College.
I’ve always been a fan of theatre, and part of my program requires us to do a six week placement. So needless to say, when I heard about the GCTC internship, I couldn’t say no!
The staff welcomed me in with open arms right from the start. And from there I’ve been doing a little bit of everything. This includes writing media releases, posting our events on local community calendars, assisting with the video of Lise Ann talking about the 2012-2013 season, putting together information for the Lawyer Play program. And that’s not even half of it. All those logos you see on the Lawyer Play event page on our website? A good chunk of that was done by me. Navigating multiple logo formats with the wonderful Windows 2003 system in the office is much easier said than done! The new season display board beside the box office is something I also did successfully, after learning to spell the word available correctly. But hey, everyone’s allowed to make mistakes now and then!
I learned so much that not all of it can be described here. There is a ton of work that goes on behind the scenes to make everything that you see possible, including the brochures, the website, the season launch, media days, Lawyer Play and everything else that GCTC does.
Now, as I write this, my time at GCTC has come to an end, although I really wish I could stay longer. I really enjoyed all of the work I did and the staff has been super amazing to work with.
Even though my last day is today, GCTC has not seen the last of me. I plan to attend the Lawyer Play dress rehearsal next week as well as Circle Mirror Transformation in June. And I might just pop by a few times over the course of the next season! You never know…
I owe a huge thanks to all the GCTC staff for making my time here a great one!
Heather
