Last night we opened our last show of the season with the world premiere of The Burden of Self Awareness by Canadian legend, George F. Walker. This is (I think) the 10th George F. Walker show put on by GCTC throughout its history. There’s just something about his plays that our audiences eat up. At the point of writing this, the first review (courtesy of the Ottawa Citizen) has made it online and more are sure to follow. Make sure to check Facebook and Twitter as we’ll be sharing them once they make it online.
For the past week the cast and the playwright have been making the rounds with Ottawa and some national media talking about the experiences of acting in a world premiere and a variety of other topics. Eric Coates, GCTC’s Artistic Director is making his first appearance on GCTC’s stage as an actor (Eric directed This is War in February) portraying the character of Michael. Eric, along with George, was at CBC Studios this week talking to Lucy Van Oldenbarneveld about their experience with the play. Look for Our Ottawa to air this weekend. Below is a pic of the gang hanging out on set.
The Burden of Self Awareness is playing at GCTC until June 22. Don’t miss out on this terrific show closing out our season.
