Arthur Milner at Collected Works

For those who aren't familiar with Arthur Milner (no, he wasn't married to Marilyn Monroe), he's got a long history with the Great Canadian Theatre Company. From 1978-1991 he was a resident playwright and from 1991-1995 he was the Artistic Director for GCTC.

Arthur wrote a wonderful play entitled Facts that premiered here at GCTC on April 15, 2010. Facts is a murder mystery, based loosely on the murder in 1992 of Dr. Albert Glock, an American archaeologist teaching in the West Bank. The play generated some very lively discussions and was nominated for 3 Rideau Awards. Masada is a "lecture" about the history of Zionism, delivered by a visiting Israeli historian, to an audience at a Jewish community centre. It premiered in 1990, directed by Steven Bush. It was published as a book in 2006.

We're proud to support Arthur in the release of his new book Two Plays about Israel/Palestine: Masada, Facts (available on Amazon). The book combines two of Arthur's plays which both made their debut at GCTC. He's got a book launch coming up right across the street at Collected Works, this Friday on April 27 at 7pm. Arthur will be reading from the plays, signing copies and our Artistic Director, Lise Ann Johnson, will even be there to say a few words too.
